New sidebar widget: Google Reader Clip
If you are using Google Reader, this is good news for you. 72pines developers have worked out a sidebar widget for WordPress, which enables an easy way to show your shared Google Reader items on your 72pines blog. This widget is per request from the user Scavin and you can see the widget in action on his blog (note: it is in Chinese).
To set up the widget, you need the numeric user id for your Google Reader account. Here is how to obtain that id:
Go to Google Reader and click on settings. You will see the following screen with an option to “add a clip to your site” when you are on the tag page.
Click on that “add a clip to your site” link and the following window will pop up. Your numeric user id is embedded in the Javascript code (in this screenshot, it is shown as a 20-digit number: 15573585355561******).
Okay, now you just need to go to the backend of your 72pines blog, and click on the Themes -> Sidebar Widget setting. Find the widget named “Google Reader Clip”, and drag it to your sidebar. In the widget setting, enter the user id you just obtained. If you are sharing a tag, please enter the tag name as well. Leave it blank, if you just want the shared items.
Enjoy!
